Somewhere, at its very core, there is a plot for Saikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiinda ga (ImoCho) that could work. A story about a girl who dies young, unable to move on because she never got to experience love is could be compelling. And if she decides to enlist the help of a living girl to help her move on to the afterlife, by explaining her situation and having reasonable expectations of the living girl, that could be interesting. And if the guy is a genuinely interesting guy, with real reasons for the ghost girl to be attracted to him, I could even root for the romance. It all depends on the execution.

Sadly, the execution for ImoCho is horrible. The biggest issue I have is there is nothing about the ghost, Hiyori, that makes me want to root for her. She forces herself into possessing the little sister's, Mitsuki's, body. She then magically forces Mitsuki to wear a "too lewd for Crunchyroll" chastity belt, which Mitsuki can only take off for three minutes an hour. And then when she finally explains everything, about being dead and in love with Mitsuki's new step-brother, Yuuya, and how she needs to fuck him to move on to the afterlife, she drops this bombshell. If Mitsuki doesn't let Hiyori use her body to fuck Yuuya, Mituski will die. I don't even know what to say to that aside from how horrible I find Hiyori as a character. I mean, Mitsuki seems like a decent middle school girl, and Yuuya is a nice guy with an actual head on his shoulders. These kids don't deserve to have their lives messed with by some insane rapist ghost.

I'm not saying this show enables rape culture, but it enables rape culture.

Oh right, I forgot to mention the rape until now. I'll admit I'm no expert on sex with women, but when a girl says "no, stop", when someone is fondling her, that isn't a sign that she likes it and that person should keep going. That's a sign that things need to be put to an immediate halt. When things aren't halted, that's rape. This shit isn't funny, and playing it for laughs morally disgusting. And the fact that this happens fourteen minutes into the first episode left me feeling gross. The fact there was a second rape scene made it even worse. Add in a pair of scenes where Mitsuki's inability to remove the belt to the point where she pisses herself, all played for more laughs and titillation, and I'm absolutely disgusted by this anime.

Obviously, I'm failing ImoCho. Not only am I not in the target audience, I don't want to know anyone in the target audience. I feel a moral outrage when something like this exists. It isn't the worse thing I've ever seen, but, I have no urge to see this, or anything like this, ever again. Because, this whole "no means yes" attitude towards sexual assault thing needs to die a swift death, and any enjoyment I could get out of this is completely cancelled out by that content's presence.
