A little girl has assembled a team of nutcases to help her take over the world. That's the plot of Sekai Seifuku: Bouryaku no Zvezda. The team that Hoshimiya Kate has assembled, known as Zvezda, has advanced technology, can summon giant monsters, and has magical powers. And for some reason the girls have to wear skimpy outfits when they fight. Because otaku love that shit. The actual plot of the show, such as it is, takes place as the newest member of the organization, Jimon Asuta, learns just what he has gotten into.

The first few minutes of this show gave me hope. Thie show opens in a town in Japan has been destroyed, the same town where most of the action takes place. The rest of the show is a flashback to before the destruction. We meet Asuta during a big fight he has with his father, after which he is functionally homeless. Asuta then wanders around until he bumps into Kate, and then the show goes to crap. Kate is the epitome of the obnoxious little girl character. She is a pretentious little shit, and is also prone to violence and false accusations of sexual harassment. Because catching a girl when she falls off her bike does not make someone a pervert. Nor is calling someone a pervert funny. The rest of the cast is fairly mediocre. There's a psychotic girl who can't cook. There's the burly guy who likes sweets. There's the blonde chick who does... something. And there's the pathetic guy who gets shat on by the rest of the cast, save for Asuta.

You know, you can summon an army of lolicons with that outfit.
But, it won't make them leave their rooms to fight for you.

As for the plot, I ask "what plot"? For a show about taking over the world, there has been little to no headway made on that front. So far, they've battled cooking and a bunch of smokers. The first because it's so hilarious to make jokes about a girl who can't cook, the second because Kate's wishes must become reality. There's also an organization that is trying to counter Zvezda, but they get little screen time, so it's hard to care about them. I'd guess this show is trying to be a comedy, but I didn't find it funny. Instead of trying to have a plot, it's just trying to be weird. But, weirdness can only take you so far.

The biggest thing I can say against Sekai Seifuku is that I hate almost everyone. And in the third episode, when they were trying to violently get rid of smokers, I was rooting for the smokers. Not because I smoke, but because the poor smokers were getting treated like shit. I don't like this Zvezda organization and I'm hoping that it fails in its mission. And that's more than enough for me to fail this show.
